FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter today lauded Egypt for its organization of the FIFA U-20 World Cup during a press conference in Johannesburg ahead of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup.
Asked why nothing has been said of Egypt’s readiness to host the tournament in the fall while much has been made of Nigeria’s preperations to host the U-17 World Cup, Blatter said, “If you have not heard anything about the tournament in Egypt, that means it’s perfect.
Congratulations to the organizing committee of Egypt,” he added.
“If you would have heard something it would have been negative. “
FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke said he’d be heading to Nigeria today to meet with FIFA and CAF officials regarding Nigeria’s readiness to host the FIFA U-17 World Championship.
FIFA says that roughly 70% of tickets have been sold for the the Confederations Cup, which begins Sunday when hosts South Africa take on Asian champions Iraq.
African champions Egypt kick-off their campaign Monday against Brazil.

I saw the handball from Thierry Henry in the world cup qualifying against Ireland on November 18, 2009. It is shameful that you allow this to happen. What you are basically saying is that cheating is part of the human aspect ,therefore if you do not get caught, it will be allowed. You just lost honesty of the game!! Players like Maradona (hand of God) and of course Thierry Henry (2nd Hand of God) will encourage others to find the hand od God and get away with it. It is so shameful that you allow this to happen; how do you know that the referee’s are not getting bribed for this as well???
I am very disappointed that a team that oes not deserve to get into the 2010 World Cup; can cheat and get in. I am so glad I live in North America and they have reviews of plays when there are questions regarding offsides, goals…etc.
This way the sport is kept honestly. When will you come out of the dark ages and get with the times. You will lose respect from fans about the game of soccer when you encourage cheating!!!
Shamefully
Tony
